A hotel just northeast of Disney World has sold for $13.3 million and will be transformed into a Radisson, its new owner says.
Formerly called the Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista, the four-story hotel at 8200 Palm Parkway in Orlando features 123 rooms, all 1- and 2-bedroom suites.
The hotel, which under its old name had been closed amid the pandemic, also includes a pool, gym and conference rooms.
Fahad Jumani of the Jumani Group, which purchased the property, said it would be converted into a Radisson.
“We thought Radisson would be a good idea because right now there aren’t any Radissons in Orlando,” Jumani said, adding that it will be a first-of-its-kind Radisson that features suites only.
The hotel, called Jumani Hotel on Booking.com, is open with rooms starting at $109 a night. Jumani said it will officially be branded as a Radisson on Sunday, Nov. 21. A sign on the building on Wednesday already bears the name.
Radisson has two Country Inn & Suites in the city, but nothing with the hotel chain’s name.
Hotels in Central Florida suffered tremendously under the pandemic, with more than 10,000 employees laid off or furloughed last year. Most have been hired back over the past year as the vaccines were rolled out.
Orlando occupancy rates still lag behind pre-pandemic levels, but daily room rates have been close to or above 2019 rates, according to hotel analysts STR.
Visit Florida has reported the state received more than 32.5 million tourists in the third quarter of 2021, more than the same time in 2019. Visit Orlando has said reservations for the week of Christmas and New Year’s are at 91% of this time two years ago.
EDITOR’s NOTE: An earlier version of this story incorrectly credited information about the number of statewide tourists to another agency. The numbers came from Visit Florida.
