Senior cop who visited `No 18' hotel on day of accident may land in trouble – Mathrubhumi English

Kochi: A state intelligence report pointed out that a senior police officer visited the 'No 18' hotel in Fort Kochi on the day when former Miss Kerala Ansi Kabeer and runner-up Anjana Shajan were killed in a car accident in Vyttila. As the report came to light, there will be an inquiry into the frequent visits made by this official, who is working in Thiruvananthapuram. The official will have to explain why he came to Kochi on October 31.
It is also reported that this high-ranking official had contacted the police officer who was probing into the missing hard disk from the hotel. After this, the search for the hidden CCTV visuals came to a standstill. It is suspected that the officer intervened in the investigation to avoid his name being part of the case.
The police force in Kochi is well aware of the good rapport between this police official and hotel owner Roy. Because of this, the police provided all the facilities for Roy during the investigation.
Further, the reports suggested that there will be an inquiry into the land deals of the top official. The intelligence unit has received information about the purchase of land by several top officials through benami accounts in Maradu and Nettoor areas.
The land at Panangad Chathamma junction was recently filled up by some people wit criminal background, despite receiving a stop memo from the Revenue Department. The police officials were also unwilling to take any action after knowing that the land belonged to a top police official.
Earlier, several complaints had been lodged against the officer, but he was protected by another top officer. However, it is unlikely to continue any more as the issue ended up in a controversy.
