Rape victim rescued after signaling Ohio hotel clerk for help – cleveland.com

BLUE ASH, Ohio — A reported rape victim managed to signal a hotel clerk that she was in trouble, with the clerk calling police, leading to the rescue of the woman and arrest of a suspect.
The suspect, Onjre Damon George, 20, of East Price Hill, attempted to jump out of a sixth-floor window of the hotel when officers arrived but bounced off the reinforced glass, police tell Fox 19. He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on charges of rape, kidnapping, and assault.
The incident occurred Sunday morning, WCPO Channel 9 reports. A clerk at a Quality Inn noticed the female victim, telling police she did not appear to be well. According to a 911 recording obtained by WCPO, the clerk told a police dispatcher:
“She was kind of shaking a little bit and seemed very nervous. I was short enough he couldn’t see me and I mouthed, ‘Do you need help,’ and she nodded and blinked her eyes. When they were walking away from the desk he was a little bit in front of her and she turned and shook her head yes. I just want to make sure she’s OK.”
WLWT Channel 5 reports that police say George is accused of going into the victim’s room and refusing to leave. He reportedly hit her and sexually assaulted her, at one point choking her until she lost consciousness.
Police say the victim and suspect knew each other. A lawyer for George says his client is denying the accusations, WLWT reports.
Meanwhile, Blue Ash Police Chief Scott Noel says the hotel clerk is a hero.
“We’re always stressing to people if you see something say something,” Noel tells WLWT. “Well, she saw something, and she said something.”
